New in 2007
Late 2006 Phonak introduced the Savia Art a refinement on their very successful Savia product line. The Savia Art is available in all of the custom in-the-ear products as well as the small open-fit behind-the-ear hearing aids (the microSavia Art). The Savia Art incorporates a number of features that are very popular. All of our best hearing aids use phase cancellation technology to reduce feedback (whistling). Phonak gives us the ability to adjust the phase cancellation and increase the effectiveness of the phase cancellation circuitry as necessary. They call this technology their “no whistle” feature. The directional microphones also work better on the Savia Art, as they are active and independent in all twenty channels. A feature that our patients have found particularly helpful is what Phonak calls “sound relax”. This feature will quickly identify loud transient high frequency sounds (such as the clinking of dishes or the crackling of newspaper) and quickly eliminate them, making the hearing aid experience much more comfortable. Last but not least, the Savia Art also incorporates self-learning. This allows any consistent change that is made by the wearer through the remote control to be retained in memory so that the hearing aid can actually learn the sound preferences of the user. Phonak has remotes that can be attached to keychains. They also have a stylish wristwatch remote.
In 2007, Phonak released the Audeo. Phonak has a mid-priced Audeo V and their high-end Audeo IX. The Audeo IX is based on the Savia Art platform that includes all of the great Savia Art features as well as a feature that Phonak calls “crystal sound”. The “crystal sound” feature provides a very broad band width extending out to 10 kHz. This hearing aid is only available in an ultra-small open BTE configuration. It utilizes receiver in the ear canal technlology, as does the Delta, and is extremely cosmetic in appearance. The Audeos also work with all of the Phonak remote controls.
